ABOUT
OUR RESCUE
Pit Bulls Second Chance Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit pit bull rescue organization located in Bluefield, West Virginia serving both Virginia and West Virginia. We were first introduced to the breed in 2013 when we brought an abandoned puppy home. 5 years, 3 rescued pit bulls and thousands of hours working at our local animal shelter later...we are following our hearts and opening our own brick and mortar to continue helping this amazing breed.
Working closely with a nearby animal shelter, we will transfer dogs from the shelter to our rescue that are at risk of being placed on the euthanasia list. The dogs we will rescue are in danger of being added to the kill lists at very high volume shelter.
Our doors and kennels are open to ALL DOGS, ALL BREEDS. In this area, the pit bull breed is the one most affected at the shelters and the ones we are most likely to see on top of the euthanization.
As we bring in new dogs, we will assess each of their individual needs and then immediately start acclimating them to a happier life. We will incorporate basic manner training, playdates, outdoor walks, on and off leash training and more. Next, we'll facilitate adoptions with a very thorough process to ensure all dogs find their perfect home.
We have a long road ahead but each morning, we wake up knowing this is and will be the best part of our lives.
A note from us (6/24/2019),
We wanted to provide a quick update on the status of our rescue. We have decided to explore alternate locations to continue our mission. Effective July 1, we will have placed all of our dogs with their forever homes and/or loving foster homes. We will now dedicate our time to focusing efforts on finding a new location and continuing to secure funds for the future. We will continue to partner with the local animal shelters and help as many dogs in need as we are in this transitional period. Be sure to keep an eye out for updates as we will still be hosting events throughout the summer.
We'll also update you with our new location ASAP so our weekly volunteers can come hang out with our new dogs soon!
